Digital Learning Tools

Georgia Southern University offers a robust suite of digital learning tools to support innovative teaching, meaningful engagement, and student success. These technologies are available to faculty, instructors, and teaching assistants (TAs) to enhance course delivery, collaboration, and assessment across learning environments.

Each tool below is either centrally supported or adopted by academic units to help improve instructional efficiency, accessibility, and academic integrity.

Perusall

Perusall is a collaborative e-reading platform that transforms reading assignments into engaging, interactive learning experiences. Faculty can upload textbooks, articles, and PDFs for students to annotate and discuss in real time. This promotes deeper reading comprehension and fosters a sense of community among students.

YuJa

YuJa is Georgia Southern’s enterprise video platform for lecture capture, video hosting, and streaming. Faculty can record lectures, create video quizzes, and upload course-related content. YuJa also includes automatic captioning and integrates directly with Folio for seamless access.

TurnItIn

TurnItIn is a plagiarism detection and writing feedback tool integrated into Folio. It allows instructors to check student submissions for originality and provides grammar suggestions and writing improvement insights to support academic integrity and learning outcomes.

Respondus

Respondus offers tools to promote secure and fair online testing. Respondus LockDown Browser prevents digital cheating by restricting browsing during online assessments, while Respondus Monitor uses webcam-based proctoring to verify student identity and test-taking behavior.

Zoom

Zoom is the university’s primary video conferencing platform for synchronous online classes, virtual office hours, and collaborative meetings. It offers screen sharing, breakout rooms, live transcription, and integrates directly with Folio.

Google Workspace

Google Workspace provides cloud-based tools including Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Drive. These tools support real-time collaboration, cloud storage, and streamlined communication across courses and group projects.

Microsoft 365

Microsoft 365 is available to all Georgia Southern faculty and includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and OneDrive. These tools offer powerful productivity and collaboration features, supporting both instruction and academic operations.

Additional Instructional Tools

Other tools and platforms may be adopted at the college or department level to meet specific instructional needs. Faculty are encouraged to consult their department or instructional support staff for tool availability and training.
